Mary Butler

Mary Jeanne Butler, 81, of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at her home.

Born Dec. 14, 1923, in Forest, Wis., she was the daughter of Edward and Dorothy Bechler Foy. From infancy she made her home with her uncle and aunt, Chris and Mayme Foy Baker. On March 16, 1946, she married George B. Butler in Plymouth, Wis. He died March 9, 1995.

Survivors include one son, Michael Butler of rural Dallas City, Ill.; two daughters, Jeanne Westby of Keokuk and Kristine Pilkington of Carthage, Ill.; six grandchildren; five great–grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Schoenbeck of Oconomowoc, Wis., and Margaret Giglio of Eden Prairie, Minn.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, three brothers, three sisters and her parents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. followed by the family receiving friends to 9 p.m.

The Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Butler will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City, with the Revs. Tony Trosley and Luke Spannagel officiating. Burial will be in LaHarpe Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for LaHarpe Ambulance Service and Blessing Hospice of Hancock County.
