Evelyn R. Olson Evelyn R. Olson died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at her home, 704 Garfield St. She was 81. Mrs. Olson was a homemaker, a bookkeeper and worked for a time for the Emporia Police Department. The daughter of William J. and Bertha L. Cassingham Turner, she was born Feb. 13, 1925, at Madison. She grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison High School in 1943. She lived in Madison until 1959 when she and her husband, Elmer, moved to Emporia. She married Elmer Olson on April 9, 1943, at Eureka. He survives. Mrs. Olson was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. She is also survived by one son, William Lee Olson of Emporia; two daughters, Gloria Jean Wilson of Shawnee and Donna Jo Schier of Fishers, Ind.; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. One brother, Victor l. Turner; and one sister, Roma P. Hale, died earlier. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Wilson Funeral Home at Madison. The Rev. James McGuire will conduct the service. Burial will be in Blakely Cemetery, northwest of Madison. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
