James Cassingham Services are March 18 for James R. Cassingham, who died March 5 in Aptos due to pulmonary fibrosis. He was 84. A native of California, Mr. Cassingham was raised in San Jose. He was a San Jose High School graduate and attended San Jose State. Mr. Cassingham served in the Navy for four years. He worked for Union Oil Co. for 42 years, and retired and moved to Aptos in 1987. He played softball in high school, college and for the Navy and was an avid golfer. He belonged to Sons In Retirement and was an ambassador for Seascape Golf Course for 20 years. Mr. Cassingham was married to his wife, Maggie, for 62 years. Survivors: Wife Maggie of Aptos; daughter Deborah Ramos of San Jose; brother Jerry Cassingham of San Jose; two granddaughters and four great grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. March 18 at St. Joseph's Church, 435 Monterey Ave., Capitola. Contributions: The American Lung Association and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. |
