Alma Marie Cassingham, 93, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at her home. Alma was born in Black Rock, Arkansas on August 29, 1915, the daughter of Oscar E. and Rosa May (Heimberg) Slife. She attended schools in Humboldt, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Earl Cassingham on August 26, 1941 in Butler, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1988. She was later united in marriage to Elmer Carder. He also preceded her in death. Alma worked as a Restaurant Cook. She is survived by a daughter, Rosezella Marie Dunser of Elsmore, KS; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl Cassingham; her husband Elmer Carder; a son, Earl Cassingham Jr.; four sisters; and two brothers. Graveside services will be held February 13, 2009 at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas. Memorials in her name may be made to the Allen County Animal Rescue Shelter and may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, Chanute, KS, is in charge of arrangements. |
