Mrs. Edward (M. Louise) Esgar, 78, Morris, formerly of Mazon, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 29, 1997, at Morris Hospital. Born March 4, 1918, in Mazon Township, Grundy County, she was a daughter of John and Elsie (Sutton) Henderson. Educated in Mazon schools, she graduated from Mazon High School with the class of 1936. On May 1, 1937, she married Edward J. Esgar in Joliet. For 21 years she served as secretary of the Village of Mazon Water Department. She was a member of the Park Street Congregational Church of the United Church of Christ where she was a former financial secretary and deaconess, and the MVK Senior Citizens. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Jo Crowe of Graniteville, SC; one son Richard (Cheryl) Esgar of Mazon; five grandchildren, Kristine, Edmund (Heather) and J.R. Esgar; Kelly McManus and Erika (Albert) Jones; three great-grandchildren, Rebeccah McManus, Taylor Esgar and Wyatt Jones; a sister Mildred (Ervin) Miller of Mazon; a sister-in-law, Virginia Henderson of Morris and a good friend and neighbor, Faye Gilmour of Morris. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband on Oct. 29, 1994; one brother, James Henderson, and two sons-in-law James McCleary and William Crowe. Funeral services will be Saturday Feb. 1, at 11:30 a.m. at Park Street Congregational Church in Mazon with the Rev. Tonda Martin officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the U.C. Davis and Sons Funeral Home Ltd. in Morris. Preferred forms of remembrance are memorial gifts to Park Street Congregational Church or to the MVK Ambulance Service.
