Harvey James Edwards is the son of Harvey Leonard Edwards and Nellie Maud Bell. Buck, as he is known, was born 26 November 1908 in Hill City, Graham, Kansas. He died 30 July 1983 at age 74 in Covina, Los Angeles, California.

On Valentine's Day, 14 February 1937, he married May Johns in Mountain Grove, Wright, Missouri.
