Loren Richard Sites is the son of Austin Perd Sites and Eva Lovina Pingle. Sometimes known as Dick or even Dusty, he was born 18 August 1922 in Seneca, Ohio. He died 14 May 2006 at age 83 in Columbus,,Ohio. On 20 May 2006, he was buried at Mansfield Memorial Park, Columbus, Ohio.

On 2 February 1946, he married Frances Mary Tellaro in Farmington, Fulton, Illinois. She is the daughter of Domenic Tellaro and Victoria Rolando.
