Janice Colleen (Miller) Shelherd Obituary

[The Sacramento Bee, Sacramento, CA, December 1, 2009]

SHEPHERD, Janice ''Colleen''

Born on June 27, 1945 in Juneau, Alaska to Earl and Helen Miller joined our Lord on November 23, 2009 at the age of 64 in Roseville, California. Beloved wife of 35 years to Thomas E. Shepherd. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her as she had ''Never Met a Stranger.''

She was an energetic, compassionate, and a very friendly person. She was the fourth born in the Miller Family of ten. Her childhood years were spent entertaining for family, friends and the community as the 4th member of the ten singing ''Millerines'', they even performed at the ''Hollywood Bowl.'' The family lived in Alaska, Washington and Arkansas before settling down in Linda, California. Colleen graduated from Marysville High School in 1963, she enjoyed a successful career in Real Estate in the Yuba/Sutter area, was an associate for Millstone Coffee and responsible for coordinating all Demo's in Arizona, New Mexico and Southern California and later with Proctor and Gamble in Northern California. She loved the outdoors, from the Sierras to the Pacific Ocean, fishing, hunting, camping and just walking on the beach.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Helen Miller, her sisters Erlene Miller Barnett and Darlene Miller Proffett.

In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by her daughter Robin Humphreys of Yuba City, sons, Joseph Halter of Plumas Lake and Anthony Shepherd of Roseville; eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Chad and Kaitie Reynolds, Brooke Humphreys; Joey, Jeannie and Jessica Halter; and Cole Shepherd, her siblings Kathlene Miller of Linda, Laurie Little of Sutter, Skip Miller of Sacramento, Sherie Miller of Linda, Glenn Miller of Yuba City, Gaylene Long of Yuba City and Gary Miller of Reno, Nevada along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Colleen touched many lives over the years with her friendly smile, compassionate soul, family first ideals and her ''Live for Today'' attitude. She will be sorely missed, but fondly remembered by all that had the pleasure to know her.

Services to be held on Thursday, December 3rd at 2pm at Lakeside Colonial Chapel, 830 D Street, Marysville, California 95901

LIFE IS NOT ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF TIME WE WERE GIVEN, BUT WHAT WE DID WITH THE TIME WE HAD.

May the Lord Bless and keep her.
