Bernice Alberta Marie Ventur passed away quietly August 27, 2004 in Tacoma, WA. She was born in Douglas, Alaska on April 6, 1913 to Albert and Lenti Edwards and was the eldest of seven brothers and sisters.

Bernice is survived by her husband of 56 years, Alfred Ventur of Tacoma; sons Dean Johnson of Richland, WA and Pierre Ventur of Beverly, MA; grandchildren Conrad Ventur of New York City, Stephanie Cimoch of Boise, Idaho, Bradley Johnson and Natalie Johnson of Richland, WA; and great-grandson Nolan Cimoch of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Edwards of Seattle, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernice lived a full and productive life. She was very proud of her Alaskan background and heritage, and her government-service career, which included positions in the Selective Service during WWII, Internal Revenue Service, and various positions at Fort Lewis and McChord AFB, WA. She will be fondly remembered for her devotion to family and her life-long interest in poetry, music, homemaking, sewing and cooking. She was also a long-time member of the New Apostolic Church, where she was a choir member and organist.

Her first great-granddaughter is due on September 7th. and so continues the Circle of Life. Rest in peace; we all loved you and will miss you. Goodbye, until we meet again. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Sept. 13th at 7 p.m. at the New Apostolic Church, 2309 S. 74 St., Tacoma, WA. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home, 584-0252.
