Doyle Morris Sealscott Doyle Morris Sealscott, 87, died at 2:05 a.m. April 3, 2009, at Hearth & Home in Van Wert. He was born Jan. 4, 1922, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, to Samuel Perry and Nellie Mabel Morris Sealscott, who preceded him in death. On April 19, 1945, he married Virginia Faye Martin, who survives. Mr. Sealscott retired in March 1986 from Sonoco Fibre Drum/Continental Can Co. Survivors also include a daughter, Donna Marie (Gary) Allen, of Colonial Heights, Va.; two sons, Robert Kent (Teresa) Sealscott, of Crown Point, Ind., and J. Richard (Deb) Sealscott, of Van Wert; a brother, Kenneth Al (Miriam) Sealscott, of Van Wert; and seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert. Pastor Timothy Burden will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Care Center. |

Doyle Sealscott VAN WERT, Ohio -- Doyle Morris Sealscott, 87, of Van Wert, died at 2:05 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at Hearth & Home at Van Wert. He was born Jan. 4, 1922, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Samuel Perry and Nellie Mabel (Morris) Sealscott. On April 19, 1945, he married Virginia Faye (Martin). She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Donna Marie (Gary) Allen of Colonial Heights, Va.; two sons, Robert Kent (Teresa) Sealscott of Crown Point, Ind., and J. Richard (Deb) Sealscott of Van Wert; a brother, Kenneth Al (Miriam) Sealscott of Van Wert; seven grandchildren, Karen Marie Richardson of Colonial Heights, Va., Scott Douglas Allen of Petersburg, Va., Katharine Sealscott and Amanda Sealscott, both of Chicago, Ill., Emily (Ryan) Holliday of Hilliard, Ohio, and Adam and Steven Sealscott, both of Van Wert; a great-grandchild, Amethyst M. Richardson of Colonial Heights, Va.; a sister-in-law, Helen Stahl of Fort Myers, Fla.; a niece, Tina Buchannan and family of Pickerington, Ohio, and a nephew, Jeffery Stahl and family of Ft. Myers, Fla. He retired from Sonoco Fibre Drum (Continental Can Co.) in March of 1986 after 45 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Van Wert, and a graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School in 1934. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS. Deede, De 263 as a radio technician during World War II and earned an honorable discharge in November 1945. He was a member of Van Wert Masonic Lodge 218, Van Wert Chapter 73, Van Wert Council 71 and Commandery 54; Toledo Zenobia Temple, a life member of Van Wert County Shrine Club, Van Wert Black Swamp High Twelve; a member of Isaac Van Wert Post 178 of American Legion and a life member of Destroyer Escort Sailor Association. He and his wife loved their winter home, friends in Palmetto Palms and the Beach Methodist church in Ft. Myers, Fla. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, with Rev. Timothy Burden of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Military services will be conducted at the gravesite by the combined honor guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178. Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Monday. A Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday. Preferred memorial is Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Care Center. |
