Fern Eddy
May 16, 1916 - July 20, 2008

Fern Eddy passed away July 20 at North Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Loveland. She was 92.

E. Fern Edwards was born May 16, 1916 in Blaine (Baca County) to John Elmer Edwards and Pearl Brittenham Edwards. Fern had three brothers and four sisters. She graduated from high school in Silt in 1934. She met Delbert Eddy in Silt, and they were married in New Castle on May 16, 1935.

Fern and Delbert lived in 23 different cities in Colorado, Utah and California. She worked mostly as a homemaker and helped her husband with the Denver Post district newspaper management. She especially enjoyed working at the Grand Junction High School lunchroom as an assistant cook. They moved to the Fort Collins-Loveland area in 1993 to be near their children and grandchildren.

Fern enjoyed cooking, reading, and dancing, especially square dancing. But her greatest joy was fixing meals for large family gatherings. She was very proud of her children and their families, and she never tired talking about them. She loved playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and looked forward to all their vacation visits.

Fern is survived by her son, D. Allan (Janet) Eddy of Fort Collins; daughter Linda (Harold) Kehr of Loveland; son-in-law, Dennis Losey of Boulder, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Vesta Rager of Grand Junction and Bessie Simonsen of Rifle, and one brother, Calvin Edwards of Kim, as well as many extended family members and friends.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Delbert; their infant son, Raymond; daughter, Marilyn Eddy Losey; two brothers, Ralph and Ernest Edwards and two sisters, Agnes Meyers and Geneva Rogers.

A celebration of Fern's life was held for family and friends on July 25, 2008, in Loveland. Inurnment will be at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 8, 2008, at the cemetery in Rifle.

The family would like to thank her many friends at The Wexford, North Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Hospice of Larimer County for the loving care and friendship they provided to Fern during her last months of life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Fern to Hospice of Larimer County, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, CO, 80525.
