PHILIP "PHIL" EARL ALBERTSON

A memorial service for Philip "Phil" Earl Albertson, 77, will be 3 p.m. Thursday at The Gardens, 505 Walnut Street, Wapakoneta, Ohio. Phil Smith will officiate. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, at Perry Church of Christ, Perry. Mark Uhlman will officiate. Graveside service will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, Perry. Visitation with the family will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Boise, Idaho, to Philip Calvin and Mercedes Fairbanks Rhodes Albertson and died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, in Wapakoneta.

His was raised in Norman and graduated from Norman High School in 1947. He married Mona Louise Griffin Aug. 18, 1956, in Maysville. They moved to Perry in 1959. He received his industrial engineering degree from Oklahoma State University after serving as an Air Force jet fighter pilot and officer during the Korean War. In 1959, he started working at Ditch Witch in Perry. He worked 31 years in manufacturing engineering, new product design, purchasing, expansion planning and research and development at Ditch Witch. He was a founding member of International Geothermal Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA). He received the Ambassador Award for Lifetime Achievement by IGSHPA in 2005. He was active on Perry Airport board, was an assistant Scout master, was a member of Lions Club and American Legion and was a deacon and teacher at Perry Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife Mona; children, Philip Albertson Jr. of Noblesville, Ind., Amy Bridges of Los Gatos, Calif., Michael Albertson of Mustang and Sarah Beth Wilcox of Wapakoneta; two brothers, Richard Albertson and Maurice "Bud" Albertson; one sister, Karin Hyatt; and nine grandchildren.

Phil 'Philip' Earl Albertson

Phil "Philip" Earl Albertson, 76, formerly of Norman died Monday, Oct. 2, in Wapakoneta, Ohio. A memorial service officiated by Phil Smith took place Thursday in Wapakoneta. Family visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Perry Church of Christ, with Mark Uhlman officiating. Graveside services will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry.

Mr. Albertson was born Nov. 14, 1929, to Philip Calvin and Mercedes (Fairbanks Rhodes) Albertson in Boise, Idaho. His boyhood home was in Norman, where he graduated with the Norman High School class of '47. Phil and Mona Louise (Griffin) Albertson were married in the Church of Christ in Maysville Aug. 18, 1956. The Albertsons moved to their home on the hill ("Nostrebla") about a mile south of Perry on Highway 86 (Skyline Drive) in 1959.

Mr. Albertson completed his industrial engineering degree at Oklahoma State University after serving as a U.S. Air Force jet fighter pilot and officer during the Korean Conflict. In 1959, he started working part-time at Ditch Witch in Perry, which soon hired him to work full time as employee No. 25.

During the following 31 years, Mr. Albertson worked in manufacturing engineering, new product design, purchasing, expansion planning and research and development at Ditch Witch. As a founding member of the International Geothermal Heat Pump Association, his significant contribution to the technological and economic advances in the geothermal industry have had a far-reaching impact on the country's energy and environmental future. In 2005, he was awarded the Ambassador Award for Lifetime Achievement by IGSHPA.

Mr. Albertson was active on the Perry Airport Board, as an assistant scout master, in the Lion's Club, in the American Legion and as a deacon and teacher in the Perry Church of Christ. He was an avid reader on a broad range of subjects; he enjoyed many weekends of flying and sailing on Lake Keystone with the family.?

In addition to his wife, Mona, Mr. Albertson is survived by his brothers, Richard Albertson and Maurice (Bud) Albertson; and sister Karin Hyatt. He and Mona are the parents of Philip (Deborah) Albertson Jr. of Noblesville, Ind., Amy (John) Bridges of Los Gatos, Calif., Michael (Paula) Albertson of Mustang and Sarah Beth (Dave) Wilcox of Wapakoneta. They are the grandparents of Rohn, Tabitha and Audrina Albertson of Noblesville, Ind., Sarah Louise Bridges of Los Gatos, Calif., Brittany, Kristen and Sierra Albertson and step-grandson Curtis Novotny of Edmond and Garrett Wilcox of Wapakoneta.
