MARILYN (EDWARDS) ROGERS , 70, of Mount Carroll died Monday, February 26, 1996 at her home. Daughter of Floyd and Anna Mae Douglas Edwards, she was born Wednesday, August 5, 1925 in Savanna. She and Ward Rogers were married May 30, 1945 in Mount Carroll . She attended grade school at Strawberry country school in rural Mount Carroll and graduated from Mount Carroll High School in 1944. From 1938 to 1945 she was a waitress at Isenhart’s Sugar Bowl Restaurant in Mount Carroll . Later she did payroll and line work at General Electric in Morrison for 10 years. She and her husband managed Timber Lake Campground near Mount Carroll for one year, and from 1976 to 1986 owned and operated The Dairy Bar Restaurant in Mount Carroll . For the last nine years she cooked meals for Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mount Carroll . Surviving family members include her husband; two daughters, Renee Jensen of Columbus, Ohio, and Toni (Hamad) Razbi of Dallas, Texas; and one son, Doug Rogers of Freeport; seven grandchildren, two sisters, Florence Isenhart of Mount Carroll and Betty Greg of Earp, California; and two brothers, Robert and Jim Edwards of Rockford. Preceding her in death were two brothers and one sister. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll with the Rev. Robert North of Grace Episcopal Church of Freeport officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to time of service Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Mount Carroll Public Library, Amicare Hospice Services, and good Samaritan Nursing Home. |
