James "Jim" Orrie Blackburn

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - James "Jim" Orrie Blackburn, 80, of Tallahassee, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, in Tallahassee. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Tallahassee. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Beggs Apalachee Chapel in Tallahassee. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton with Masonic graveside rites.

Mr. Blackburn was a native of Chipley and former resident of Atlanta. He had resided in Tallahassee since 1960. He was a Thirty-third Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and Marzuq Temple, a member and longtime treasurer of the Leon Co. Pharmacy Association, and a member of J. Edwin Larson Masonic Lodge #361 F & AM. He was a member of the FSU Varsity Club and lettered in a varsity sport, and was an avid FSU fan and a member of the Seminole Boosters. He served in the Army and the Navy during World War II and the Korean War and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Libby Blackburn of Tallahassee; three sons, Jeb Blackburn and his wife Karen of Tallahassee, Andy Blackburn and his wife Lisa of Marietta, and Sam Blackburn of Marietta; one stepson, Chip Huggins and his wife Sally of Tallahassee; one stepdaughter, LuAnn Huggins of Tallahassee; one sister, Miriam and Dr. Wesley Grace of Port St. Joe; two stepsisters, Sancil Holder of Tifton and Lolla Lee Pulliam of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Cory and Kyle Blackburn of Marietta and J.J. and Heath Blackburn of Tallahassee; five step-grandchildren, Ryan and Heather Sweat, and Matthew, Meredith and Claire Huggins, all of Tallahassee. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary H. Blackburn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist preschool, 120 Park Ave., Tallahassee, Fla., 32306.

Beggs Funeral Home, Tallahassee, is in charge of arrangements.
