[From the News Journal, 18 May 2006, Mansfield, OH] Loren Richard 'Dick/Dusty' Sites ASHLAND -- Loren Richard "Dick/Dusty" Sites, 83, of Ashland, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at Mayfair Village, Columbus, after a brief illness. Born Aug. 18, 1922, he was the son of the late Austin P. and Eva Pingle Sites, and was preceded in death by his 10 brothers and sisters. Mr. Sites was a graduate of Findlay Senior High School and Tiffin University. He was a member of Delta Sigma Kappa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II where he did two tours of duty in the South Pacific. Mr. Sites retired from Standard Oil Co. Ohio (Sohio) and McIntosh Oil Co. He was past president of Louisville Kiwanis Club, past president of Canton Petroleum Club, member of Mansfield Management Club and was named Boss of the Year from Canton radio station WINW in 1977. Mr. Sites was also a member of Tiffin Masonic Lodge 77, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, Ashland Shrine Club, Zenobia Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Toledo, honorary member of Order of the Silver Thistle of Scotland, American Legion, Harry Higgins Post 88 and AARP Ashland Area Chapter 3713. Surviving are his wife, Frances Mary Tellaro Sites; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard L. and Karen Sites and James L. and Tamaria Sites; a daughter, Vicki L. Perry; six grandchildren, Brian (Hanneke), David, Nathan, Evan, Amy (Greg) Dorsey and Marissa (Jarod) Cass; seven great-grandchildren, Chelsie, Kalien, Gregory II, Mackenzie, Courtney, Graesin and Lusey; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, whose hobby was his family. He never met a dog he did not like. His humor, wisdom, kindness and, most of all, his smile and handshake will be missed by all. Memorial funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006, at First Presbyterian Church in Ashland, with Dr. Sue Dickson officiating. Private family burial will be held in Mansfield Memorial Park, where the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will conduct full military services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for lung cancer research; Ashland County Dog Shelter, 1710 Garfield Ave., Ashland, OH 44805; or First Presbyterian Church in Ashland.
