Born Jan. 27, 1929, at Marfa, Texas, Lady was the daughter of Herbert W. and Roberta D. (Davis) Humphris. She received her education in the Texas school system, graduating from El Paso High School in 1945. She then attended the University of Texas at El Paso. In 1948, she married Tommie Amis. The couple settled in San Diego, Calif. in 1951, where they raised two daughters. The marriage later ended in divorce. Lady worked most of her life as a bookkeeper in the restaurant industry. Her last employer was a defense contractor, General Dynamics. Lady met Bob Lloyd in San Diego. The couple married on Sept. 18, 1987, and upon Lady's retirement in 1991, made their home in Ida Grove. Bob passed away on Sept. 24, 2002. Lady had been employed as a caregiver the entire time she lived in Ida Grove and for several years was site manager for Community Senior Dinners. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where she faithfully served in the nursery, United Methodist Women's Circle, Courtesy Lunch, Mission's Committee, Outreach Program and participated in various Bible studies. She was honored to receive the United Methodist Women Special Mission Recognition earlier this year. Lady was always eager to help in any situation and was well known for her generosity of spirit. During the course of her time in Ida Grove, she developed many deep and lasting friendships. She loved people and had many friends because she was a loyal friend herself. She will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters and their spouses, Donna and Bill Davis of the Philippines and Suzy and Carl Haines of San Diego; four grandchildren, Lisa (Davis) Schlink, Bethy Davis, Tyler Haines and Kimmy Haines. Lady dearly loved Bob Lloyd's large extended family and always looked forward to the Lloyd family reunions. In addition to her husband, Bob, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Helen. |
