Kenneth J. Barnett

Kenneth J. Barnett has lifted off the runway for the last time on this earth and is now flying in clearer skies. He passed into the hands of God on August 30th, 2009 in Yuba City, California after a short illness.

He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado in the month of February of 1927. He lived most of his life in California. He served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Line Chief on the flight line of the Alameda Navel Base. He was a member of the AOPA and the PRA. He ran an auto repair and aircraft manufacture business in Olivehurst since 1962. He was a famous race car driver for many years, winning numerous trophies and awards. He was the inventor and designer of the famous Barnett Gyroplane which he sold world wide through the Barnett Rotor Craft Company. He added his design talent on the AWACS radar dome.

He is survived by his son Jean Barnett; daughters, Janice Buchanan and Gina Merle; step sons, Alan Auld, Lonny Ownbey and Allen Ownbey; step daughters, Jacquelyn Haggard, Sandi Walther and Lynnae Hope. He had 29 grandchildren and 24 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Erlene Barnett, Melodee Barnett, Andy Ownbey and Traci Parr.
