John J. Shriner (Sr.) is the son of Peter Shriner (Sr.) and Sarah. He was born about 26 Apr 1794 in Virginia. He died 11 Jan 1863 at age 68. He is buried at St. Michael's Cemetery, Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio.

  • On 22 Dec 1815, he married (1) Mary Williams. She may be the daughter of Joseph Williams and Barbara. She was born 31 Jan 1796 in Pennsylvania. She died 4 Aug 1856 at age 60 in Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio. She is buried at St. Michael's Cemetery, Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio.
  • On 2 Jan 1859, he married (2) Jemimah Gohegan in Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio. She was born between 1804 - 1807 in Pennsylvania or Ohio.

  2. Sarah Shriner was born in June 1816 in Fairfield county, Ohio. She died 8 January 1909 at age 92 in Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana. On 10 January 1909, she was buried at Lindenwood Cemetery, Allen, Indiana. In 1903, she was declared to be of "unsound mind" and placed under the guardianship of her nephew Ochmig Bird.
    • She married Thomas Jefferson Holmes. He was born about 1807 in Virginia. He died on Christmas day, 25 December 1866, at age 59 in Allen county, Indiana. On 27 December 1866, he was buried at Lindenwood Cemetery, Allen, Indiana. They apparently had no children.
  3. Solomon Shriner was born in Aug 1818 in Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio. He died 30 Aug 1821 at age 3 in Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio. He is buried at St. Michael's Cemetery, Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio.
  4. Peter Sriner was born 9 Jan 1821 Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio.
  5. Mary Shriner was born 28 February 1823 in Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio.
  6. Joseph Sriner was born about 21 May 1825 in Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio.

Notes

Jemimah: The 1850 census listing for Jemimah shows her as the apparent mother of a child. This would seem to indicate that Gohegan is not Jemimah's maiden name, but the name of a prior husband.

Joseph: The 1850 Census has Joseph living just 2 doors down from John, since John has a son of the appropriate age, I am ASSUMING for the time being that Joseph is John's son.
