Oral Raymond Swigart (Sr.) is the son of Gladys F. Yontz and Alonzo Eugene Swigart. He was born 9 October 1897 in Columbia City, Whitley, Indiana. He died suddenly on 21 June 1973 at age 75 in Paris, Île-de-France, France. On 2 July 1973, he was buried at the US Naval Academy Cemetery, Annapolis, Anne Arundel, Maryland.

• He married Margaret Natalie Williams. She is the daughter of William Thomas Williams and Margaret Ann Branzell. She was born 4 April 1898 in Eastport, Annapolis, Anne Arundel, Maryland. She died 10 December 1993 at age 95 in Annapolis, Anne Arundel, Maryland. She is buried at the US Naval Academy Cemetery, Annapolis, Anne Arundel, Maryland.

• An article in the local paper reports a wrestling  injury sustained while at the Naval Academy (Fort Wayne News Sentinal, Fort Wayne, IN, 24 Jan 1918).
• Another article mentions that he is captain of the wrestling team at the Naval Academy (Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Fort Wayne, IN, 10 Aug 1919).
