• On 5 August 1955, at age 19, he married L. Lorene Mauzy, who was age 17, at Dutchtown Brethren Church in Warsaw, Kosciusko, Indiana. She is the daughter of Leonard Ellis Mauzy (Sr.) and Lillian M. Shroyer and the sister of Leonard Ellis Mauzy (Jr.) who married John's sister, Norma. Lorene was born 15 September 1937 in Kosciusko county, Indiana. She died 4 April 2009 at age 71 in Lagrange, Lagrange, Indiana. On 7 April 2009, she was buried at Salem Cemetery, Wilmot, Noble, Indiana.
