Harrison Scott is the son of Sarah Shriner and Matthew Scott. He was born 20 March 1824 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia (though then it was Virginia). He died 28 July 1897 at age 73 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. He is buried at Sinks Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.

He was age 22 when he married Sarah L. Perry, who was age 24, in Greenbrier county, West Virginia (though it was then just Virginia), on 4 February 1847. She is the daughter of Adam Perry and Mary Rachel Viney. She was born in 1823 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia (then called Virginia). She died in 1903 at age 80 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. She is buried at Sinks Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
