Mary Jane Scott is the daughter of Sarah Shriner and Matthew Scott. She was born about 1836 in Monroe county, West Virginia (though then it was Virginia). She died 9 January 1867 at age 31 in Greenbrier county, West Virginia.

On 15 April 1855, at age 19, she married James Edgar Edds, who was age 23, in Union City, Monroe, West Virginia (though it was then just Virginia). He is the son of William Edds and Frances Hill Crewes. He was born 5 June 1831 in Monroe county, West Virginia (then called Virginia). He died 1 March 1906 at age 74 in Fayette county, West Virginia. After Mary's death, he remarried and had additional children not listed below.

4. Lena R. Edds was born 16 July 1862 in West Virginia (which was just Virginia at the time). She died 4 March 1933 at age 70 in Normal, McLean, Illinois. On 6 March 1933, she was buried at Park Lawn Cemetery, Danvers, McLean, Illinois.
   • On 1 May 1922, at age 59, she married Abraham Forsythe in Huntington, Cabell, West Virginia.
5. Walter White Edds was born 3 November 1865 in Greenbrier, West Virginia.
6. Porter Clifton Edds was born 10 December 1866 in Greenbrier county, West Virginia. He died in 1867.

Notes

The surname "Edds" is variously spelled Eads, Eades and Eadis. In researching the descendants of Mary and James it seems that they universally settled on the spelling "Edds", so that is the way I have listed it here.
