Charles Cosby Scott is the son of Cornelius Stephen Scott and Elizabeth Ann Carraway. He was born 1 June 1880 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. He died 22 June 1960 at age 80 in Clarksburg, Harrison, West Virginia. He was buried 25 June 1960 at Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, Harrison, West Virginia.

On 17 April 1919 at age 38 he married Margaret Anne MacAdam who was age 26 in Delhi, Delaware, New York. Anne, as she is known, is the daughter of James A. MacAdam and Janet Smith. She was born 27 January 1893 in Halis Corner, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She died in May 1982 at age 89 in Clarksburg, Harrison, West Virginia.

Charles:

• Both the index of West Virginia births as well as the 1900 census give Charles' birth as occurring in June 1880, while all other records I have encountered give the date as 1884. Since his sister, Bertha, was born in January 1884, it seems unlikely that Charles could have been born in 1884 also. Unfortunately, the 1880 census, which claims to been enumerated on 3 June and therefore could have definitively settled the matter, does not list the infant who should have been just days old at the time. Regardless, I have chosen to list his birth as 1880 -- consistent with the earliest records available.
