William Harrison Scott is the son of Harrison Scott and Sarah L. Perry. He was born 23 January 1854 in Flat Mountain, Monroe, West Virginia (though then it was Virginia).

He was age 24 when, on 11 September 1878, he married Martha Evelyn Caraway, who was age 20, in Greenbrier county, West Virginia. She is the daughter of William Page Caraway and Margaret Harrah, and the sister of Elizabeth Ann Caraway, who married William's brother, Cornelius. She was born 6 October 1857 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia (then called Virginia). She died 16 February 1948 at age 90 at her son, Pascal's home, in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. She was buried 18 February 1948 at Scott Family Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
