He was age 26 when, in 1906, he married Henrietta Hartman, who was age 23, in Wetzel county, West Virginia. She is the daughter of John Hartman and Maria Hurd. She was born 5 October 1882 in Ellsworth, Tyler, West Virginia. She died 27 February 1949 at age 66 at home in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. She was buried 1 or 2 March 1949 at Sinks Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
