Bertha Blanche Baber is the daughter of Virginia Susan Miller and Charles Alexander Baber. She was born 3 June 1894 in Summers county, West Virginia. She died 22 November 1949 at age 55 in Loudoun county, Virginia. She was buried 24 November 1949 at Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, Loudoun, Virginia.

About 1917, at age 22, she married James Samuel Patterson, who was age 24. He was born 18 August 1892 in New Hope, Augusta, Virginia. He died 1 February 1985 at age 92.
