Semma Ramus Scott is the daughter of George Washington Scott and Rebecca Tipton Watson. She was born 6 December 1856 in Monroe county, West Virginia (though then it was Virginia). She died 21 June 1932 at age 75 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia. She was buried 23 June 1932 at Scott Family Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.

On 9 June 1875, at age 18, she married Lewis Allen Burdette, who was age 23, at her parents' home in Monroe county, West Virginia. He is the son of Andrew Jackson Burdette and Elizabeth Shumate. He was born 14 February 1852 in Wolf Creek, Monroe, West Virginia (then called Virginia). He died 28 April 1933 at age 81 in Wolf Creek, Monroe, West Virginia. He was buried 30 April 1933 at Scott Family Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.

He was born 23 November 1892 in Nye, Putnam, West Virginia. He died 21 July 1958 at age 65 in Bluefield, Mercer, West Virginia. Notes

Semma seems to be named for the ancient Babylonian Queen Semiramis (as her name appears in the West Virginia Births log). But the Births log is the only record that spells her name as one word. Every where else it appears as two words, usually Semma Ramus, but also in several other variants. It is not certain if Semma Ramus (the most common form of her name) is a corruption of Semiramis or is actually the correct rendering of her name.
