On 10 October 1888, at age 29, he married Nannie Bell Sloneker, who was age 22, in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. She is the daughter of William Sloneker and Arabella Crawford. She was born 1 March 1866 in Union, Monroe, West Virginia. She died 10 March 1939 at age 73 in Ronceverte, Greenbrier, West Virginia. She was buried 11 March 1939 at Scott Family Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
