Cora Susan Burdette is the daughter of Semma Ramus Scott and Lewis Allen Burdette. She was born 21 November 1878 in Second Creek, Monroe, West Virginia. She died 9 October 1950 at age 71 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia. She was buried 11 October 1950 at Restwood Cemetery, Hinton, Summers, West Virginia.

On 17 October 1906, at age 27, she married James Lacy Jones, who was age 22, at her parents' home in Monroe county, West Virginia. Lacy, as he is known, is the son of James Madison Jones and Virginia Pence. He was born 18 July 1884 in Wolf Creek, Monroe, West Virginia. He died 14 December 1952 at age 68 in Gap Mills, Monroe, West Virginia. He was buried 16 December 1952 at Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia.
