Paul Allen Jones is the son of Cora Susan Burdette and James Lacy Jones. He was born 8 November 1918 in Wolf Creek, Monroe, West Virginia. He died 11 April 2006 at age 87 in White Sulphur Springs, Greenbrier, West Virginia. He was buried 19 April 2006 at Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia.

On 15 May 1937, at age 18, he married Veva Adele Cook, who was age 16, in Narrows, Giles, Virginia. Adele, as she is known, is the daughter of DeWhitt Clinton Cook and Viola Riffe. She was born 19 October 1920 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. She died 24 August 2011 at age 90 in Fairlea, Greenbrier, West Virginia. She was buried 27 August 2011 at Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia. This marriage apparently ended in divorce with Veva marrying twice more.
