Mathew George Scott is the son of George Washington Scott and Rebecca Tipton Watson. He was born 17 April 1862 in Monroe county, West Virginia (though then it was Virginia). He died 2 November 1909 at age 47 in Meno, Major, Oklahoma. He was buried 3 November 1909 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery (also known as Miller Cemetery), Meno, Major, Oklahoma.

On 1 May 1884, at age 22, he married Annabell Frances Emmons, who was age 23, in Monroe county, West Virginia. She is the daughter of Oscar J. Emmons and Mary E. C. Allen. She was born 9 November 1860 in Princeton, Mercer, West Virginia (then called Virginia). She died in 1928 at age 67 in Oklahoma. She is buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Meno, Major, Oklahoma.

1. Winfield Allen Scott was born 5 November 1884 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. He died 3 September 1973 at age 88 in Atascadero, San Luis Obispo, California. He is buried at Atascadero Pine Mountain Cemetery, San Luis Obispo, California.
   • He married Nora. She was born 20 October 1884 in Missouri. She died 28 February 1972 at age 87 in San Luis Obispo county, California. She is buried at Atascadero Pine Mountain Cemetery, San Luis Obispo, California.
2. John G. Scott was born 27 July 1886 in Flat Mountain, Monroe, West Virginia. He died 16 May 1956 at age 69. He is buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Meno, Major, Oklahoma.
3. B. A. Scott was born 24 April 1888 in Monroe county, West Virginia. She died 8 September 1893 at age 5 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
4. Elliott Emmons Scott was born 8 December 1889 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
5. Effie R. Scott was born 27 October 1891 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia (near Rocky Point).
6. Doris Marie Scott was born 19 January 1894 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
7. Christine B. Scott was born 25 December 1896 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
8. Forrest Osber Scott was born 1 October 1898 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
9. Nellie Virginia Scott was born 1 November 1900 in West Virginia. She died 12 July 1985 at age 84 in Enid, Garfield, Oklahoma. She is buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Meno, Major, Oklahoma.
10. Eric Leon Scott was born 29 July 1903 in West Virginia. He died 8 September 1980 at age 77 in San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, California. He is buried at Atascadero Pine Mountain Cemetery, San Luis Obispo, California.
11. (baby boy) Scott died in 1906. He is buried at Scott Family Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
12. (baby girl) Scott died in 1907. She is buried at Scott Family Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
13. (baby boy) Scott was born 15 January 1908 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. He died prior to 1910.

Notes

There must be an error here with regard to the children. In the 1910 census and in Mathew's obituary, it is indicated that Mathew and Annabell had given birth to 12 children with 9 still living. But in the list above, we show 13 children. I suspect that the error may be in regards to children 11 and 13. The only information I have found for number 11 is a FindAGrave.com listing. If that listing is in error as to the year of death, it is possible that number 11 and number 13 are the same person. If that is not the issue, I am not sure why I have too many children.
