Guy Herman Burdette is the son of Hazeltine Judson Edds and Jesse Robinson Burdette. He was born 20 September 1886 in Wolf Creek, Monroe, West Virginia. He died 2 August 1960 at age 73 at his home in Ansted, Fayette, West Virginia. He was buried 4 August 1960 at Westlake Cemetery, Ansted, Fayette, West Virginia.

On 17 November 1913, at age 27, he married Attrice Claytor, who was age 19, in Charleston, Kanawha, West Virginia. She is the daughter of Pleasant Preston Claytor and Gertrude Maupin. She was born 31 December 1893 in Bedford county, Virginia. She died in December 1976 at age 82 in Alderson, Greenbrier, West Virginia.
