Dorothy H. Edds is the daughter of Mary Jane Scott and James Edgar Edds. She was born 20 December 1859 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia (though then it was Virginia). She died 17 August 1936 at age 76 in Danvers, McLean, Illinois. She was buried 20 August 1936 at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.

On 26 November 1884, at age 24, she married James Thomas Gibson Miller, who was age 31, in Greenbrier county, West Virginia. He is the son of John Miller and Salena Scott Neel. He was born 26 July 1853 in Flat Mountain, Monroe, West Virginia (then called Virginia). He died 10 February 1927 at age 73 in Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia. He was buried 11 February 1927 at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Cemetery, Sinks Grove, Monroe, West Virginia.
