Helen Ashburn is the daughter of Clora Fay Miller and Clarence Marcellus Ashburn. She was born 14 June 1919 in Huntington, Cabell, West Virginia. She died in 1999 at age 79 in Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee.

On 27 August 1942, at age 23, she married Herbert C. Gabhart, who was age 28, in Huntington, Cabell, West Virginia. He is the son of Riley Gabhart and Bettie Conway. He was born 19 August 1914 in Morganfield, Union, Kentucky. He died 10 September 2009 at age 95 in Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee.
