Lois Virginia Barcus is the daughter of Otto Marion Barcus and Orpha Pearl Staples. She was born 19 July 1924 in Tennessee. She died 11 July 2014 at age 89 in Bartlett, Shelby, Tennessee. She was buried 13 July 2014 at Covington Memorial Gardens, Covington, Tipton, Tennessee.

On 28 November 1955, at age 31, she married Jack Grey Ashley, who was age 32, in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee. He is the son of Erle G. Ashley and Sarah. He was born 27 February 1923 in Tennessee. He died 18 December 1994 at age 71 in Covington, Tipton, Tennessee. He was buried 21 December 1994 at Covington Memorial Gardens, Covington, Tipton, Tennessee.

    Lois B. Ashley, 89, member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired secretary with Arlington Developmental Center, died July 11, 2014 Bartlett. The widow of Jack Ashley, she leaves a daughter, Betsy (Randy) Channell of Burlison; grandchildren Deanne (Jason) Hughey of Burlison and Ashley (Tyler) White of Brighton; and great grandchildren Jackson, Jake and Jan Claire Hughey. Funeral services for Mrs. Ashley will be 2 PM Sunday, July 13, at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Bill Nolen will officiate. Interment will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens.

    COVINGTON - Jack Grey Ashley, 71, retired vice president of Memphis Wood Products and retired owner and operator of Ashley's Orchard, died Sunday of heart failure at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. He was a World War II Army veteran and had owned and operated an apple orchard in Covington. Mr. Ashley, the husband of Lois Barcus Ashley, also leaves a daughter, Betsy A. Anderson of Covington; a sister, Helen Frank of Bartlett, and two granddaughters.
