Martha Shriner is the daughter of John J. Shriner (Sr.) and Mary Williams. She was born about 1839 in Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio.

On 21 March 1861, she married Edward C. Rockhill in Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana. He was born about 1838 in Indiana. He died 28 August 1903 at age 65 in Gilman, Marshall, Iowa. He is buried at Prairie View Cemetery, Gilman, Marshall, Iowa.
