On 29 April 1849, he married Elizabeth Wells in Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio. She is the daughter of Peter Wells and Sarah Wagy. She was born on leap day, 29 Feb 1828, in Licking County, Ohio. She died 21 Jul 1896 at age 68 and is buried at Snider-Union Evangelical Cemetery, Liberty, Fairfield, Ohio.
