On 6 February 1845, at age 20, he married Mary E. Engle, who was age 17, in Whitley County, Indiana. She is the daughter of John Engle and Rachel Forsythe. She was born 30 July 1827 in Sandy Township, Stark, Ohio. She died 8 March 1895 at age 67 in Grant, Newaygo, Michigan. She is buried at Ashland Cemetery, Newaygo County, Michigan.

6. Winfield Scott Egolf was born 19 Feb 1856 in Indiana. Sometimes known as Scott, he died 27 Dec 1917 at age 61 in Ashland, Newaygo, Michigan. On 1 January 1918, he was buried at Ashland Cemetery, Ashland, Newaygo, Michigan. Apparently he never married.
7. Mary Lucinda Egolf was born 3 Jan 1858 in Thorncreek Township, Whitley, Indiana.
8. Francis Marion Egolf was born 20 Dec 1859 in Whitley County, Indiana.
