In Jun 1869 or 11 May 1871, he married Mary Jane Armstrong in Whitley County, Indiana. She is the daughter of Alfred F. Armstrong and Sarah Jane Anderson. She was born in April 1848 in Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan. She died in 1926 at age 77 in Grant, Newaygo, Michigan. She is buried at Ashland Center Cemetery, Ashland Center, Newaygo, Michigan.
