Levi Arby Gaff is the son of John Wesley Gaff and Joanna Hosler. He was born 4 May 1889 in Green, Noble, Indiana. He and his brother Leo are twins. He died 6 December 1958 at age 69 in Noble county, Indiana. He is buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, Noble, Indiana.

On 26 December 1908, at age 19, he married Lena Viola Oliver, who was age 20, in Noble county, Indiana. She is the daughter of Samuel Oliver and Margaret Zigler. She was born 10 March 1888 in Green, Noble, Indiana. She died 3 January 1973 at age 84 in Alamo, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
