On 3 July 1909, at age 21, he married Chloe Leaman, who was age 18, Columbia City, Whitley, Indiana. She is the daughter of James Monroe Leaman and Valona Staples. She was born 21 June 1891 in Columbia City, Whitley, Indiana. She died 21 February 1946 at age 54 in Columbia City, Whitley, Indiana. She is buried at South Park Cemetery Annex, Columbia twp, Whitley County, Indiana.
