• On 27 February 1912, he married Edith L. Peckhart in De Kalb county, Indiana. She is the daughter of Henry Peckhart and Wilhemina Minnie Lehmbeck. She was born 24 February 1894 in Auburn, De Kalb, Indiana. She died 3 July 2000 at age 106! in Cloverdale, Putnam, Ohio. On 6 July 2000, she was buried at Little Auglaise Cemetery, Paulding, Ohio.

Oscar was born 18 May 1914 in Putnam county, Ohio. He died 5 September 1986 at age 72 in Oakwood, Paulding, Ohio.
7. Arletta Jean Merriman was born in 1934.
