On 15 November 1928, he married Ruth Lavon Stafford. She is the daughter of Elmer Nathaniel Stafford and Laura Marie Helvey. She was born 7 April 1913 in Kosciusko county, Indiana. She died 27 September 1984 at age 71 in Roanoke, Huntington, Indiana. On 29 September 1984, she was buried at South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, Whitley, Indiana.
