On 11 January 1929, he married Clara Mae Bechtold. She is the daughter of George W. Bechtold and Martha Shinkle. She was born 18 December 1912 in Huntington county, Indiana. She died 10 May 1999 at age 86 in Columbia City, Whitley, Indiana. On 15 May 1999, she was buried at South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, Whitley, Indiana.
