Verrene Giesy

Verrene Elwood Giesy, 95, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Lanfair Nursing Center.

Born March 6, 1910, in Basil, to the late Ray and Erma (VanArsdalen) Giesy, Verrene was employed by Anchor Hocking as paymaster for 40 years, Giesy Heating and Cooling for five years, and was a cabinet maker and master carpenter for 30 years after retirement. He was a member of Fairfield Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Gracie Bell (Kasser) Giesy; son, Larry (Mary Ellen) Giesy; daughter, Annetta (Richard) Cochran; grandsons, Douglas Ty Giesy, Richard Sean Cochran, Scott Ellwood Cochran, and Joseph Pershing Cochran; and great-grandchildren, Katherine Christine Giesy and Tyler Douglas Giesy.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Halteman-Fett and Dyer Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow in Maple Grove.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
