L. Frances Beard L. Frances Beard, 80, of rural Huntington, a Whitley County native, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Parkview Hospital. She had worked for Peabody Library as assistant librarian until 1942, for Weatherhead for four years, for Ion Capacitor for 15 years, and was a member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church in Goblesville where she had served as financial secretary for 20 years and held various other church offices. Surviving are her husband, Arlo; daughters Amy L. Vehling of Indianapolis and Ann L. Watkins of Washington, Ind.; a sister, Ethel Worrick of Lafayette, La.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Dickerson. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, Goblesville, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Huntington. Memorials are to the church.
