[Journal Gazette, Fort Wayne, IN, July 24, 2006] DeELDA E. KNAFEL DeELDA E. KNAFEL, 93, formerly of Churubusco, died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Kendallville Manor Healthcare Center. She was born in Allen County, and was a lifelong Churubusco-area resident. She married Paul R. Knafel in South Bend on April 24, 1930, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church--Lake Twp., and enjoyed the Guys & Gals Square Dance Club for 25 years. Surviving are daughters, Betty (William J.) Smith and Wanda (Richard) Maroney, both of Wolcottville, and Sandra Elser and Sue Grabill, both of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren,19 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great- grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; sister, Audrey Gaff; and brother, Gail Gaff. Service is 11 a. m. Wednesday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco, with visitation one hour before services. Pastor Ralph Easterhaus officiating. Visitation also Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial in Eel River Cemetery, Allen County. Memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church, Lake Twp. or the donor's choice. |
