[Peoria Journal Star, Peoria, February 27, 2006] Norman Hermann MORTON - Norman L. Hermann, 77, of 1410 Palmer Lane, Palm Harbor, Fla., formerly of Morton, died at 4:11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla. He was born June 23, 1928, in Deer Creek to Fred C. and Katherine Louise Schurter Hermann. He married Cora JoAnne Kuntz on Feb. 20, 1949, in Goodfield. Surviving are his wife, Cora JoAnne Hermann of Palm Harbor, Fla.; one son, Douglas L. (Candance) Hermann of New Braunfels, Texas; two daughters, Phyllis (and Michael) Coulter of Broomfield, Colo., and Pamela (and William) Peek of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; three grandchildren, Andrea Coulter of Broomfield, and Cora Peek and William Peek II, both of Zephyr Hills; one brother, Don (and Mavis) Hermann of Morton; and two sisters, Florence Witter of Morton and Lucille (and Ray) Knabe of Meridian, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and two sisters. He was a World War II and Korean War Marine Corps veteran, where he attained the rank of sergeant. Norman was employed at Caterpillar Inc. for 45 years, retiring in 1993 as a scheduling analyst in the pricing and scheduling division. He was a member of Harborside Christian Church in Safety Harbor, Fla. He also was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 318 in Morton and served on the Legion Board of Directors for 12 years. He was a former scout master for Boy Scouts of America Troop 85. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton, with the Rev. Larry Kuntz officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by his American Legion post. Memorials may be made to Morton Christian Church, 1001 S.
