1952-2008

Wayne Biggs, 55, of Amarillo died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in South Georgia Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Miller, pastor, and the Rev. Lucas Biggs, son and youth pastor of Myrtle Springs Baptist Church in Hooks, officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Panhandle Cemetery in Panhandle. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.

Wayne was born July 2, 1952, in Borger and graduated from Panhandle High School in 1970. He lived in Spearman for 28 years, where he worked for 5-Star Equipment for more than 20 years. He also worked at Prairie Motors as a shop foreman and service writer. He moved to Amarillo in 2004. Wayne was most recently employed by Heritage Equipment, formerly Scott Tractor, as a mechanic.

Wayne was a former member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Spearman. He sang with the Servants of Faith and Panhandle Singing Men. He led worship at First Baptist Church in Spearman and various other churches in the Texas Panhandle. Wayne also was very involved with the Emmaus community in the Panhandle. He and his wife joined South Georgia Baptist Church in 2006, where he was serving as a deacon.

He married Kathy Tyler Doub in 1973 in Panhandle.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Vanessa Watkins and husband James of Amarillo; a son, Lucas Biggs and wife Jessica of Hooks; a sister, Kerri Hicks and husband Tony of San Antonio; his parents, Jim and Betty Biggs of Panhandle; and a granddaughter, Abigail Elizabeth Biggs.

The family will be at 6807 Hurst St.
