[Daily Republic, Fairfield, CA, July 06, 2010] Rev. James Edward “Bill” Harvey Rev. James Edward “Bill” Harvey of Vacaville, Calif., and formerly of Beckley, W.Va., was born December 8, 1915, in Lock Ghelly, Fayette County, W.Va., and was the son of the late Osber E. Harvey and Eva M. (Bare) Harvey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Lois Lee Harvey, and sister, Imogene Harvey Coiner. Rev. Harvey graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Beckley, W.Va., in 1935. He graduated from Alderson-Broaddus College, Philippi, W.Va., in 1942 and graduated from Colgate-Rochester Divinity School, Rochester, N.Y., in 1945. He was an ordained minister with the American Baptist Convention. He served churches in West Virginia, Ohio, and Illinois. He later taught at Vanden High School, Travis Air Force Base, Calif., for 17 years. He was a member of the Christian Church of Vacaville. He was a member and past master of Suisun Lodge No. 55 A.F. & A.M. He also was a member and past patron of Suisun Chapter No. 2 OES, Fairfield, Calif. He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue (Kite) Harvey, married 66 years; three sons, E. Scott Harvey and his wife Joanne of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mark Edward Harvey and his wife Melanie of Holly Hill, Fla., and Kent Craig Harvey and his wife Sandy of Vacaville, Calif.; three grandsons, Christopher Harvey, Scott Harvey, Gregory Harvey; and one sister, Rose Elizabeth (Harvey) Stover of Gastonia, N.C. Among his interests were Lapidary, tropical fish breeding, photography, amateur radio, music, private aviation, sailing, theology, and a great love of people. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Colgate-Rochester Divinity School, 1100 South Goodman Street, Rochester, N.Y. 14621. The Harvey Family will be having a Memorial Service on Friday, July 9, 2010, at 1 p.m. located at Christian Church of Vacaville, 66 Vine Street in Vacaville, CA 95687 or call 707-448-8778.
